My HP G71-340US was only a year and a half old when the original battery failed. I wanted a battery with several hours' use, so I bought this 12 cell. It was delivered very quickly. It fits my computer as described. (Fits correctly for function, but because it contains 12 cells, it raises the back of the computer so the computer now sits inclined, which actually improves airflow around the battery and improves cooling.) It's also a good angle for typing. I was concerned because it was hard to find a laptop bag to fit a 17" screen computer, that my computer might not fit my bag with the battery in, but it still fits the bag. However, I have seen some people comment that it won't fit in a sleeve with a 12 cell battery installed.

I have been using this 12 cell battery for about a month and so far have had no problems with it. With the wireless receiver turned on, the battery lasts 4-5 hours, with the wireless turned off, it lasts about 9 hours. I keep my screen on bright at all times, but I am not a gamer and I do not watch videos on the computer, so others may find a charge lasts less time. It's a definite improvement over the 6 cell battery that came with the computer. I certainly hope it lasts longer than the year and a half that the original did, too.
