HP 593553-001, 593554-001, 593555-001 Laptop Battery - Premium Superb Choice® 9-cell Li-ion battery Review

I received my battery quickly from Power Direct. When it came it was about 75% charged. I plugged it in and ran my HP dv6t-6000 notebook until it got to about 12% and the HP notified me to plug in the AC adapter. However, the battery would not charge. I researched this online and found that in this model series (and others) the BIOS would not recognize the 9-cell nor 12-cell batteries. There is no BIOS update to correct this as HP would rather you just replace your computer or just use the original 6-cell type batteries. (I had a model 593554-001 original battery in mine. Therefore, while it would run the computer it would never trigger the charging to work. Checking the battery with the BIOS diagnostic, it said the battery failed and needed to be replaced. My wife had a new HP Envy notebook and I tried the battery in her's and it worked fine and charged up. So, I just took her 6-cell and gave her the new 9-cell.

I found it surprising that the distributor did not have any idea about this issue. They kept having me try different things and finally were willing to take it back. That's when I did my own research and then tried it in the other computer. It didn't take long to find this issue by Googling it.

So, while it worked out for me and I didn't have to deal with returning and finding another one, you may want to check your HP model first before expecting this to work for you.

The above is the reason for my 3-star rating. While the product was fine and worked, the advertising and support was unaware of the apparent problems for this.
