Bay Valley Parts 9-Cell 11.1V 7800mAh New Replacement Laptop Battery Review

The battery worked on my Acer Netbook and was compatible with the software on Linux Mint OS 11 that monitors the battery power and the charge controller. The battery is very thick and causes the keyboard to be more slanted. It is actually a kind of bonus, since it is easier to type on at this angle, but other people may want to factor this ergonomic issue in terms of their own needs and preferences. The battery power is almost 3x the power of the original battery and almost gives me about 8.5 hours of use (according to the battery power read). There is a slight delay in the read. It gives a more accurate reading after about 2 minutes that is usually higher than the first number it gives. I give the battery 4 stars instead of 5 because of two things: (1) The keyboard slant changes the ergonomics and may not be preferable for everyone (though it works for me). This thickness may also mean that it does not fit every carry case that is designed for it. (2) The thickness actually blocks easy movement of the LED screen to best angle for viewing. I have to gently push down on the middle to slight bend the plastic so that it moves to the right position. It is just off by less than a millimeter, but I notice it the plastic edge blocks the free movement it had before. It is not hard to push down on the plastic to move it past the resistance point. I am thinking of getting my dremel and shaving off just a little bit of the plastic edge to fix this. All in all, I like the battery life and can live with the rest.

Update 12/31/2012: I did get dremel out, added the sander cylinder attachment, and shaved a very thin layer off the edge of the battery casing that was getting caught when I was opening the netbook. It worked. It now opens smoothly, without catching (except for a small gentle click). I have found the battery power of this battery very enduring. Even after over a month, it has held enough charge for the times that I have needed it. It registered almost 9 hours and even after much use and over a few months it still registers about 8 hours (using it for about 5 to 10 minutes at a time). It has exceeded my expectations.
