Laptop Keyboard for Dell XPS M1720 M1721 M1730, Dell Inspiron 1710 (Silver) Review

First I have to say that I was excited about getting a new keyboard for my Dell. What I didn't expect was the different layout on the keyboard. While buyer beware always applies, I would not have expected a British keyboard to come when I ordered from an American based company in the states.

Interestingly the keys do operate the same regardless of how they are labeled. The 2 shows a quote ("), 3 a British Pound sign, the apostrophe has the quote mark, the shift key is 1/2 the size of the regular shift key, and the enter key is about twice the size of the original enter key.

Since I already know the keyboard and can type without looking, I may be OK if I can get used to this stupid left shift key being so small.

The tactile feeling of the keyboard is pretty good.

The other issue I have is that the company shipped the keyboard sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard in a plastic bag. The right most enter key on the keypad was messed up and required me to look carefully at it before installing. The form factor of the keyboard is ever so slightly smaller so you see the metal edges on the left and right side. All-in-all I will contact the people that shipped me this and see if there is an American keyboard version of this.

For the price, I had honestly hoped for a bit more.

The computer would not reconize it. Tried powering it down, reseating it, and nothing, constant error system can not identify battery. I email BattPit and tell them the battery does not work. They send me a form to fill out and then tell me they will not refund my original shipping charges. WTF? I paid $22 to have a battery the next day, and that battery did not work. And they wanted to tell me they would not refund that? I emailed several times with no reply, and finally sumbitted the issue to Amazon who took care of the issue for me. Would not recommend buying any products from this seller.
