This battery worked in an M400 but it didn't work as expected in my M750. I didn't have a chance to try an M700 or M780, but I suspect it won't work in those models either.

If you've read some of the other reviews for this battery, the symptoms are the same. You cannot cold boot the computer with this battery. The computer passes POST, but gets stuck with a blinking cursor in the upper left of the screen. You have to plug the computer into AC and turn it on, then after Windows comes up you can install and charge this battery.

There is a fairly simple solution, but its possibly a little dicey given the volatile nature of Li-ION batteries. You can rewrite the battery's eeprom with info from another usable battery.

Despite all the trouble required to get the battery to cold boot correctly in my machine, I am basically satisfied. The battery consistently runs for 2:45:00, and that's while watching feature length movies over WiFi.

Conclusion: While the battery works pretty well, but it probably won't allow a Toshiba M700 series to boot.
